A resin bound surface is a mixture of aggregate stones and resin used to pave sidewalks, driveways, etc. It is a water permeable paving solution. It is a flexible coating material, so it is cracking resistant.
During this process, the Resin Bound material is cold-mixed using a process that ensures that every “stone” particle is completely encapsulated in a strong, transparent resin. It is immediately applied to a substrate to create a smooth, permeable finish. The finished depth of a resin bonded paving surface varies between 12mm and 24mm – depending on the size and type of stone used and the application (eg driveway, paths).
Royal Gardens Landscapes typically installs resin over an asphalt or concrete base. This acts as a structural layer. It can be installed on other substrates when a traditional substrate is not suitable by increasing the depth of the layer on the resin itself. New methods include using a lattice structure made from recycled plastic, leaving the area reserved for pedestrians and light vehicle traffic only.
